An Ending - Means Nothing
AW20 'An Ending' - an exploration of unconventional undertakings and oblique strategies.
"To create today is to create dangerously. Any publication is an act, and that act exposes one to the passions of an age that forgives nothing. Balancing extremes becomes a risk, the artist finds freedom."
The collection draws inspiration from the satirical ethos of the early 20th century Dada movement, referencing artists such as Francis Picabia, Man Ray, Guillame Apollinaire and Marcel Duchamp. We also reference Ridley Scott's 1980's Blade Runner, examining the process and storyboarding of the iconic film. Finally, we examine British music industry pioneer Brian Eno and his 'Oblique Strategies' cards, non-conventional advice to artists encouraging lateral thinking within the creative process.
