THE KING CANDLE BASE

The King is an in-store exclusive candle base made in collaboration with London/Toronto based designer Jay Potts.
Part of an ongoing series of heavy-duty art called “TOOL OR WEAPON”, a series about the productive/destructive nature of design. 
 

• 100% salvaged  and compostable packaging with lasercut branding.
• Thematically degrades and oxidises by design.
• Handmade in London with recycled steel offcuts.

Jay Potts is a designer based in London and Toronto. He makes things from garbage. The King Candle Base is handmade in London using steel offcuts. The King weighs 1kg. The packaging is 100% salvaged cardboard and reclaimed coconut fibre (coir). The cardboard was cut and scored with lasers. The coir can be used to start a fire. The King holds a candle, but can also be launched at a home intruder. The King belongs to an ongoing series of heavy-duty art called “TOOL OR WEAPON.” This series is about the productive/destructive nature of design. The King will rust. This is a feature, not a defect. Remember, the King will outlive you, rust and all. Oh and don’t let the candle burn too low; the base’ll get hot.
