Battle Royale (2000)

So today's lesson is, you kill each other off 'till there's only one left. 

The first release from our AW23 season inspired by Kinji Fukasaku's 2000 Japanese classic Battle Royale, a dystopian thriller set in a near-future where a group of students are transported to a deserted island where they're fitted with explosive collars and given a gruesome ultimatum: they must fight to the death until only one student remains standing, or else they all die.

Battle Royale is an exploration of themes of youth, authority, and violence. A disturbing yet gripping commentary on society's darker aspects and the lengths people may go to when pushed to the brink.
