The Paint Scene, Mulholland Drive (2001)
Adam Kesher is in the middle of losing his film. The Castigliane brothers want an unknown, Camilla Rhodes, in the lead. "That girl is not in my film," he says. It is no longer his film.

He drives home early and finds his wife, Lorraine, in bed with Gene the pool man.

Gene throws him out of his own house, and the paint goes everywhere. By nightfall Adam is in a cheap downtown hotel, his bank account empty and his credit cancelled.

And Lynch was a painter first. His first moving image, Six Men Getting Sick (1967), began as a painting. "You drink coffee, you smoke cigarettes, and you paint, and that's it."
